ACQUISITION AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT LIBRARIAN | LIBRARY – American University of Sharjah , Sharjah, UAE

Job Responsibilities
Coordinate acquisitions, licensing, implementation, assessment and ongoing maintenance of the library’s print and electronic collections.
Troubleshoot problems arising from ordering, subscriptions and licensing resources.
Coordinate with the Cataloging and Metadata Librarian to arrange description and control of resources in the library’s WMS system.
Report technical issues with access to library technology staff for resolution.
Collect and analyze collection usage statistics.
Oversee document delivery and interlibrary loan.
Fulfill departmental liaison responsibilities, including collection development and maintenance, instruction and other professional activities.
Maintain day-to-day contact with local and international networks, professional contacts and vendor representatives.

Qualifications Required
Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited school.
A minimum of three years of experience in academic libraries.
Knowledge of web-based applications and environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Superior technology skills with openness to emerging technologies.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
The ability to initiate and complete projects in a timely and independent manner.
Strong service orientation, flexibility and organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work within a diverse multicultural environment.
A committed approach to library and information provision with a proactive approach to your own continued professional development and that of others.

Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Experience in international academic librarianship, preferably with an American curriculum institution.
Familiarity with standards such as EDI/EDIFACT, Open URL, COUNTER, SUSHI.
Working knowledge of metadata standards and formats including MARC, KBART, Dublin Core, AACR2, RDA, LCSH.
Two years’ experience in print or electronic resource management, commercial knowledge-bases or digital serials management.
Experience working in a university or research environment.
Experience with OCLC WMS or other library services platform.
Working knowledge of web applications used in library resource management, acquisitions modules, and ordering applications like Coutts and Gobi.
