Chief Financial Officer – Georgetown University , Qatar

Requirements
Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) seeks an accomplished leader to serve as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the CFO will be responsible for providing campus-wide direction and broad strategic oversight of financial accounting and compliance to assist GU-Q leadership in the efficient and effective monitoring, management, and control of financial resources. The position will work closely and collaboratively with leadership and budget and financial managers across the campus to provide strong management reporting and controls all while maintaining high levels of customer service. In addition, the CFO will play a key role in managing risk exposure for the Qatar campus.
The selected candidate will enhance systems and develop best practices to support the academic and research mission of the University, while ensuring high standards of compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The CFO will lead an office committed to improving processes and providing outstanding service in an increasingly complex and demanding regulatory environment. He/she will strengthen relationships with stakeholders across the campus through effective collaboration and communication of financial policies and procedures.
The CFO will oversee the Office of Finance & Research Compliance to include purchasing, student accounts, student financial aid, annual and long-term operating and capital budgets, general accounting, accounts payable, fixed assets, pre and post-award administration.
We seek applications from candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree, and preferably a Master’s degree, in accounting, management, finance or business administration, with 8-10 years of relevant financial management experience, ideally in a large, complex institution of higher education. A proven track record of interpreting and applying federal and fiscal policies, regulations and reporting requirements is essential together with experience in providing leadership to a diverse staff and delivering a service-oriented approach in a highly-regulated and compliance-driven environment. Knowledge and understanding of GAAP, GAAS, FASB, and GASB is necessary, combined with experience applying accounting and financial system technology and skills in process improvement and security best practices.
