About the role
We have an exciting and unique opportunity for a senior executive to join the world’s leading airline, Qatar Airways. We are seeking to hire a Vice President of Financial Reporting and Planning. This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing all financial reporting, analysis, and strategic planning activities within the organization. This role plays a critical role in providing accurate financial insights and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders, enabling effective decision-making and ensuring the organization’s financial success and growth.
The VP provides vision and leadership to the Finance Team on systems and digital innovation. This role is also responsible for project, enhancement, and support delivery for the ERP systems.
Accountabilities:
Strategic
1. Financial Reporting:
Oversee the preparation and review of all projected financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, operational statistics and footnotes, in compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS) and regulatory requirements in order to ensure data accuracy and support executive decisions making
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of the projected financial results, both internally and externally, in order to maintain transparency and integrity in financial disclosures.
Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulations, and implement necessary updates to the projected financial reporting processes accordingly
2. Strategic Planning:
Collaborate with senior management to develop the organization’s long-term financial strategies and objectives
Provide financial analysis and projections for potential business opportunities, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives
Assist in capital allocation decisions, ensuring alignment with the company’s financial goals and risk tolerance
3. Financial Analysis and Insights:
Lead the development and implementation of financial forecasting and budgeting models, collaborating with various departments to gather relevant data and assumptions
Standardize and develop and data definition document to ensure consistency in key metrics, KPIs and financial outputs
Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities, and providing actionable insights to support strategic decision-making
Perform variance analysis between actual results and budget/forecast, explaining key drivers behind the variances and recommending corrective actions
Provide competitor analysis, benchmarking and identify opportunities to enhance financial and operational performance, productivity and cash generation
Operational
1. Process Improvement:
Continuously review and enhance financial reporting and planning processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness
Implement advanced data analytics and reporting tools to streamline financial analysis and reporting procedures
2. Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, reporting requirements, and internal controls
Identify financial risks and work with appropriate stakeholders to develop risk mitigation strategies
3. ERP
Overseeing the financial systems and ERP implementation and maintenance
Ensuring the smooth functioning of financial processes and data integration within the ERP system
Shaping the organization’s financial strategy and ensuring its financial health and stability
Ensure the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations through effective management of systems and ERP integration

Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 10+ years of job-related experience
Essential
Minimum 10-12 years of relevant experience.
Extensive experience managing large teams.
Working knowledge and expertise in commercial and operational business disciplines.
Working effectively at a senior management level within similar environment.
Demonstrated ability to leverage business, developing professional networks and relationships.
Job Specific Skills
Essential
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or CPA qualification is preferred.
Proven experience (typically 10+ years) in financial reporting, planning, and analysis, preferably in a leadership role within a large corporation or financial services organization.
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and financial reporting standards.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data and draw meaningful conclusions.
Demonstrated experience in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
Advanced proficiency in financial software and reporting tools.
Strong business acumen and strategic thinking abilities.
Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
