Job Description
The College of the North Atlantic – Qatar is inviting nominations and applications for the position of Communications Section Head in the Marketing & Public Relations (PR) Department. Reporting to the Marketing & PR Director, the Communications Section Head must be a proven leader with the skills and expertise necessary to support the Marketing & PR Department in fully implementing the College’s mission and vision.

Duties & Responsibilities:
This position requires an experienced and enthusiastic individual who will develop and implement CNA-Q’s strategies for Communications to support and advance CNA-Q’s brand and positioning in the market. S/he will also manage and promote the reputation and public image of the College as well as ensure consistent and brand supportive internal messaging through established communication channels within the College community.

Candidates should have an outstanding record of experience in Communications, preferably in a management or senior level role, and possess the qualifications necessary to be successful in the role of Communications Section Head. The candidate will support the development of the Marketing & PR department’s business plan in alignment with CNA-Q’s strategy and develop a comprehensive plan for communications and public relations, incorporating the use of traditional and digital channels and media to support and enhance CNA-Q’s brand positioning.
Candidates will support the Marketing and Public Relations (PR) Director in guiding and preparing senior management and academic staff in their capacity as CNA-Q representatives during media interviews and speaking engagements to ensure continuity and coordination of strategic messages and approaches with CNA-Q’s various stakeholders, develop strong working relationships with media and serve as the key contact to oversee and manage all media interactions and optimized amount of earned media, and ensure that CNA-Q accomplishments are effectively and strategically communicated in the national and international media on a regular basis to strengthen brand positioning.
Candidates will collaborate with Student Affairs, all Schools and Senior / Executive management to develop plans for and execute on events that deliver strategic value, student experience and brand development and extend support to other stakeholders for content management of the College’s intranet site, electronic signage and production of newsletter, flyers and internal events.
Candidates will manage copy writing for all publications, marketing and promotional materials, speeches, presentations and news releases to ensure alignment with CNA-Q communications strategies and plans and review / prepare reports evaluating the effectiveness of existing and proposed strategies for communications and public relations and their contribution to achievement of strategic goals.
Candidates will be responsible to manage all communications during crisis management efforts and provide support to senior management to determine best approach to potential issues that could impact CNA-Q and recommend measures to mitigate any reputational damage, communicating CNA-Q positions to media and other stakeholders.
Furthermore, candidates will contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, processes, guidelines governing all aspects of the Communications Section.
The Communications Section Head will provide professional development support and perform periodic performance reviews for direct subordinates to contribute to the development of employees and must have excellent organizational, leadership, decision-making, delegation and communications skills as well as the ability to act as a mentor to team members.

Qualifications
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Communications or related field is required. A Masters Degree is preferred.

Experience:
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience
Minimum 1 year of managerial experience within the area of Communications or related field required.
Language:
Fluency in written and spoken English & Arabic language is required.

Other Required Skills:
Highly motivated individual with strong leadership skills and a desire to achieve organizational success. Ambitious and self-motivated team player with a high standard of professional integrity. Knowledge of Communications & PR, Media Relations Management & Communications Planning and Execution is required. Reliable and dependable with a desire to lead by example is required. A proactive can-do attitude to work and good time management is essential. The candidate should have the ability to anticipate change and effectively manage quality and risk at all times. Effective resource management is essential. Effective problem solving skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships across all levels of the organization is also required. Candidates should demonstrate explanatory communication and interpersonal skills. A Commitment to ongoing training and continuous professional development is desirable. Fluency in English language is required. The ability to speak Arabic is an asset.
