The College of the North Atlantic – Qatar is inviting nominations and applications for the position of Events Specialist, in the Sport and Wellness Section. Reporting to the Sport and Wellness Section Head, the Event Specialist must be a proven leader with the skills and expertise necessary to support the Sport and Wellness Department in fully implementing the College’s mission and vision.

The beautiful and culturally progressive State of Qatar is home to a robust TVET higher education institution, College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q). Established to meet the ambitious and visionary goals of the State of Qatar, CNA-Q is a partnership between the State of Qatar and the College of the North Atlantic in Canada. CNA-Q, a national technical college, fills the State’s need for graduates who have applied technical training in their fields of study.

Duties and Responsibilities:
This position requires an energetic and enthusiastic individual who can validate his/her understanding and passion for development of safe and enjoyable experiences to address a variety of Sport, Wellness and Family engagement initiatives. The successful candidate will apply their expertise to specific sporting events, campus wellness promotions and activities, children’s sport programming and community facing marquis events and will lead the creation and implementation of an on-site attendee experience strategies.
The successful candidate’s operational responsibilities will include assisting in delivering phenomenal marquis events (National sports Day, Tahadi) that build business relationships, generate excitement around our organization, grow sales, and amplify brand awareness amongst internal and external user groups.
As appropriate, the Events Specialist will manage and supervise all event related staff prior to and during all related events. In addition, the successful candidate will provide oversight of Student Event Coordinators in the planning, and execution of sport, intramurals and gaming activities focused on the internal CNAQ community; including planning tournaments, scorekeeping and officiating
The candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing event themes, preparing and managing event timelines, coordinating technical aspects related to sport, wellness, leisure and marquis events.
It is expected the successful candidate will liaise and form positive relationships with key internal stakeholders (Facilities Management Department, Security etc.) to coordinate all logistical elements required for various events. As well, work closely with the Sport and Wellness Marketing Team and where appropriate, the College Marketing Department to create and advance the appropriate required marketing and media coverage for related events.
The Candidate will prepare event expenditure reports and monitor all financial aspects of organizing and delivery of internal, external and marquis events ensuring that all business objectives are met. Conduct post event reporting and ensure that all areas for improvement are identified for future events.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships and expected to have a customer service orientation in order to provide necessary information and address issues and concerns.

Qualifications
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management, Marketing, Public Relations or related discipline
Event Management Certification considered an asset
Experience:
Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience
Minimum 1 year of managerial experience
Language:
Fluency in written and spoken English is required
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is required

Other Required Skills:
Enthusiastic and self-motivated team player who has the ability to effectively plan and deliver successful and diverse events throughout the College. Proactive can-do attitude to work and good time management is essential. The ability to think analytically and solve problems is required. Commitment to positive relationship building and effective working relationships across all levels of the organization is required. Knowledge of event management and volunteer engagement is required. A commitment to ongoing training and continuous professional development is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills. Fluency in English and Arabic language is required.
