The College of the North Atlantic – Qatar is inviting nominations and applications for the position of Health Safety and Environment Specialist in the Office of the Vice President of Finance and Administration, reporting to the Vice President, Finance and Administration. The Health Safety and Environment Specialist must be a proven leader with the skills and expertise necessary to support the Office of the Vice President of Finance and Administration in fully implementing the College’s mission and vision.

Duties & Responsibilities
This position requires an energetic and enthusiastic individual who will assist in the development and implementation of campus-wide HSE management systems. The incumbent is responsible for identifying risks and preventing the development or occurrence of injuries or disease in line with Qatari legal regulations, as well as CNA-Q policies and procedures, and to meet the College’s commitment to providing and healthy and safe campus.
Candidates should have an outstanding record of industry experience in Health and Safety or related field, and possess the qualifications necessary to be successful in the role of Health Safety and Environment Specialist. The successful candidate is responsible to support in the implementation of the College’s Health and Safety Environment strategy, and assist in the establishment of policies and procedures. Candidates will support the work of the Joint HSE Committee through the provision of progress reports, accidents trends, incidents statistics, risk management and health and safety procedures.
The Health Safety and Environment Specialist will deliver HSE training and induction to the College community, monitor attendance and individual training needs and maintain HSE management systems, such as ISO.
Candidates will facilitate government workplace inspections and provide advice on fire safety measures, undertake fire risk assessments and develop action plans, including regular fire evacuation drills. The Health Safety and Environment Specialist will prepare regular HSE communications such as bulletins, newsletters, and student updates and maintain accurate records on health and safety matters.

Qualifications
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a relevant field is required.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Health and Safety Environment
Language:
Fluency in written and spoken English language
Arabic language will be an asset

Other Required Skills:
Ambitious and self motivated team player with a high standard of professional integrity. Demonstrable experience in Environmental Health and Safety. Reliable and dependable with a desire to lead by example is required. A proactive can-do attitude to work and good time management is essential. The ability to think analytically and solve problems and a good attention to detail is required. Commitment to positive relationship building and effective working relationships across all levels of the organisations is required. Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment is required. Knowledge of Facilities Management is desirable. A Commitment to ongoing training and continuous professional development is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate explanatory communication and interpersonal skills. Fluency in English language is required.
