Inspector (Offshore) – Qatargas , Doha, Qatar

Job Purpose
Provides broad technical expertise in Inspection such that the Qatargas facilities are efficiently monitored and controlled to meet the Company’s production objectives in a cost-effective manner while maintaining the highest level of integrity, safety and environmental compliance.
Reporting and Relationships – I
Reports to the Senior Offshore Inspection Engineer.
Daily contact with Operations and Maintenance Project Teams to coordinate work activities and to alert and provide input in resolving inspection related issues.
Periodic contact with Safety and other functional groups to achieve inspection division objectives.

Maintain the technical integrity of our facilities in an environment where maximizing plant availability by reducing shutdown scope and extending run-length, whilst maintaining the reliability and integrity of the units are crucial for business performance. Recommend and devise more effective work methods in accordance with established inspection and testing programs, procedures and professional standards.

Key Job Accountabilities – I
Carries out regular external visual examinations complemented with NDT examination as required on Company equipment such as vessels, boilers, heat exchangers, pressure safety devices, piping, lifting equipment according to Company established policies and procedures and issues inspection reports.
Inspects plant stationary equipment by entering into vessels, during shutdowns or when made available, to check condition of equipment. Includes noting observations on cracks, pits, thinning and any other pattern of erosion, corrosion and other interior failure. Makes interpretations of findings and submits to supervisor for further interpretation.
Coordinates with the Operations Planning and Maintenance supervisors such activities as the scheduling and planning of inspections, obtaining the requisite permits and performing any required special audits of equipment.

Key Job Accountabilities – II
Checks condition of safety relief valves, and reports findings to supervisor. Witnesses pressure setting before, after repair, and during any re-calibration campaign, as assigned. Enters inspection data into the computerised inspection reporting system and prepares reports.
Witness hydrostatic tests and pneumatic tests on pressure equipment as per policy and assist as required in load testing of lifting equipment.
Upon failures of equipment such as piping, valves, pumps etc., inspect material, assist in the preliminary failure assessments, prepare report, and issue recommendation, where applicable to supervisor for further action.
Inspects maintenance and capital project works being carried out in the field, to ensure that established maintenance practices and procedures are followed for welding, painting, fabrication and installation as per policy and in compliance with relevant applicable international codes and standard

Key Job Accountabilities – III
Carries out or supervises NDT tests on mechanical equipment and piping according to the instructions from Supervisor or Corrosion Engineer. Tests include dye penetrant examination, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, hardness tests, eddy current, IRIS, thermography, PMI, Metallography, boroscopy and use of special equipment to determine DFT of paint and ferrometer for stainless steel welding tests and other tests and inspections as required. Follows all required safety procedures while carrying out the work.
Maintains facilities and equipment as well as all other inspection instruments, tools and equipment, in a clean and operational condition.
Ensures proper maintenance of inspection reports and records. Maintains various records in the computerized systems, updating inspection test results and other data as required. Supports Company safety, environment and Quality policies and programs, carrying out specific duties and responsibilities related to his job as spelled out in Management system documentation, policies, procedures, local documentation, Management System Manual, Safety Manual and other related documents. Implements inspection recommendation by notifications raised through SAP and then tracking the progress until completion of work. Takes a leading role in the coordination and planning of inspection activities for shutdowns, both scheduled and unscheduled (emergency) of the Offshore facilities. Conducts all necessary inspections including visual internal, NDT as required, relief valve testing etc. to ensure smooth and efficient execution of shutdown work.

Qualifications
HND in Engineering.
Knowledge and/or Experience – I
6 years’ experience in inspection and testing work on offshore facilities.
Has knowledge in the following certification areas: ASNT/PCN Level-2 in UT, MT, PT, RT and Advanced NDT applications
Full awareness of corrosion control and monitoring methods.
Conversant with relevant international codes and specifications.
Knowledgeable in risk based inspection, Corrosion Damage mechanisms as per API 571.
Fully conversant in using Meridium or similar Data Management software and RBI analysis.
Holds certification in API 510, 570; NACE CIP/CP Level-2; AWS-CWI/CSWIP 3.2; or equivalent.
Technical and Business Skills – I
Fluent in English language (demonstrated verbal and written skills).
Computer literate and knowledgeable in relevant software tools and specifications.
