INSTRUCTOR | ACHIEVEMENT ACADEMY – American University of Sharjah , Sharjah, UAE

Job Responsibilities
Teach a minimum of 15 hours per week, as assigned; plan, prepare, grade assignments/tests and deliver lessons.
Hold a minimum of five office hours per week and be available for an additional four hours per week to consult with students and colleagues.
Prepare syllabi for courses taught each semester.
Develop supplementary materials as needed.
Design and develop quizzes, tests, course assignments and projects.
Provide students with feedback on academic progress and develop individual student study plans; give students guidance.
Track students’ attendance.
Report excessive absences, behavioral issues and/or academic weaknesses to the Course Coordinator/AA Director.
Inform of students who are at risk of failing.
Proctor and grade midterm and final exams.
Review and provide feedback for curriculum review and the selection of course materials.
Assist with placement testing and/or registration.
Attend course meetings and departmental meetings.
Contribute to service in the department.
Serve on two departmental committees or equivalent; certain committees may count as two committee assignments, at the discretion of the Director.
Attend the Annual TESOL Arabia Conference or relevant equivalent.

Qualifications and Skills Required
Master’s degree in English language teaching, TESOL, or a related field.
Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar position, preferably in higher education environment.

Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of three years’ experience teaching English for academic purposes in North American-style higher education.
Competent IT and Ed-Tech skills.
