Maintenance Director – Nawah Energy , UAE

Job purpose:
Oversee the maintenance performance and verify that it adequately supports the reliability, cost and safety goals of the plant. Verify that the necessary governance is in place for maintenance to meet the intent of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) regulations and Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) requirements. Monitor to ensure that the highest industry standards are consistently maintained in all maintenance programs, processes and procedures.

Key Activities
Maintenance Oversight
Direct work planning to ensure control of the planning and FIN organizations effectively (specifically includes oversight of the Long-Term Maintenance Strategies (LTMS) contractors and their sub-contractors) to ensure alignment amongst work planning activities.
Monitor the plant Master Equipment and configuration to ensure effective planned work around plant operations activities and optimize outage work.
Facilitate the interaction with Plant Work Management Online/ Work Control and Outage Managers for work planning to ensure alignment amongst plant operations and maintenance schedules.
Oversee related pre-planned/preventive maintenance (PM) planning, in coordination with operations work control (including warranty, surveillance, rework, etc.) for plant mode, limiting conditions for operation (LCO’s) and technical specification(s) currently in force to ensure alignment of work package development.
Ensure the Maintenance Departments are prepared and have planned for outages to ensure plant downtime is optimized.
Monitor the Division’s Corrective Action Program to ensure correct implementation and compliance with maintenance standards.
Direct the management of the I&C and Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) room to ensure reliability and accuracy of testing and calibration equipment
Monitor the management of maintenance experience documents for systems important to safety and reliability to ensure compliance with plant safety policies and procedures
Validate that the organization is able to support, perform, or oversee snubbers inspections, and Non-Destructive Examinations (NDE) such as Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Eddy-Current Testing (ECT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Testing (MT), and Radiographic Testing (RT) to ensure compliance with maintenance procedures.
Review identified equipment improvement items and procurement requests for equipment turned over & spare parts and special tools to ensure an adequate supply of maintenance equipment and materials.
Review documents related to installation and service contracts to retain information relevant to those contracts.
Implement the necessary nuclear power plant management systems to establish and maintain continuity in all plant activities.
Manage the effective implementation of the Conduct of Maintenance in line with industry best practices and standards.
Ensure the establishment of Loss-of-Voltage (LOV) preventive management plan to ensure plant electrical systems are maintained in compliance with industry best practices.
Performance Improvement
Verify that management expectations are complied with including safety culture and provide plant personnel periodic communication on the same to ensure that expectations are aligned throughout the department.
Implement plant strategies, plans and management process improvements to support achieving plant performance targets, and long-term plant reliability.
Prepare for World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO), Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO), and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) peer review to ensure alignment to industry and regulatory best practices.
Staff Training and Qualification
Validate BNPP training programs provide the necessary skills to ensure that maintenance personnel are capable of safely, reliably and efficiently performing activities in accordance with regulations and approved guidelines and procedures.
Manage and influence performance standards, goals and objectives for training and communicate these expectations with department personnel and training department to ensure that training is meeting the needs of the Plant Maintenance department.
Coordinate with the training department to establish and maintain course content and emphasis, to determine and support training schedules, to accomplish on-the-job training and evaluation, to observe training activities, and to provide feedback to adjust course content and emphasis as necessary.
Develop Just-In Time training for infrequently or risk significant activities and ensure that a sustainable skills proficiency development program incorporates the maintenance fundamentals.
Manage and influence qualification standards and evaluation methods to verify operational personnel are competent to perform assigned functions
Outage and Emergency Response Organization (ERO) Support
Support outage and/or the ERO, as assigned, to ensure safe, reliable and continued operations; this may require shift work/off hours support.
Corporate Strategy and Operational Planning
Develop and execute the Division’s annual Business Plan to ensure alignment with the Business Unit’s strategic and financial priorities, and the corporate goals.
Recommend an optimum organization structure, manpower plan and budget for the Division and monitor them on a regular basis to ensure efficient and effective utilization of resources.
Contribute ideas which support an efficient and effective structure and resource allocation for the Division, to ensure smooth workflow of operational processes and optimal utilization of resources.
Provide input into the development of the Business Unit’s policies and develop the Division’s systems, processes and procedures, identifying potential areas of improvement to ensure efficient, effective, safe and risk-free operations as well as compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
Monitor, control and report Operational and financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to the Division, to track performance and recommend corrective or mitigating actions.
Ensure that all relative reports are prepared timely and accurately, and meet the Division’s requirements, policies and standards.
Health and Safety and Security
Ensure compliance to all relevant health, safety and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the Division/Department/Section by the delivery of the Health and Safety Management Program to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality services and a responsible environmental attitude.
Follow all relevant Security policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure security compliance in all aspects of work, by applying them on self, others and Corporate assets.
People Management
Manage the effective achievement of the Organization’s objectives by setting individual targets, developing and motivating staff, and providing formal and informal constructive feedback and appraisal – in order to maximize subordinate and department performance.
Contribute to the development of UAE National employees in a manner which supports the objectives of the corporation and its Emiratization strategy.
Contribute to knowledge dissemination/sharing in a way that assists with building internal capabilities of UAE Nationals where applicable and maximize their effective performance.

Skills
Academic Qualifications and Work Experience

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related Science.
12 years of relevant experience, out of which:
Nuclear power operations.
Outage.
4 years of Nuclear Power Plant Experience in a supervisory or management role, including:
Shall have familiarity with:
Nondestructive testing.
Crafts and skills associated with the maintenance of a nuclear power plant.
Codes and Standards for electrical, mechanical, pressure vessel and piping maintenance.
Preferred

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
12 years of relevant experience, out of which:
5 years of experience in a nuclear maintenance department.
Technical Competency
Familiarity with:
Nondestructive testing
Crafts and skills associated with the maintenance of a nuclear power plant
Codes and Standards for electrical, mechanical, pressure vessel, piping, structural, testing, and maintenance
Design control
Configuration management.
Safety system operability requirements
Ability to conceptualize, plan, develop, and manage the assigned programs for a multi-unit plant.
