SECURITY OFFICER – New Mowasat Hospital , Kuwait

JOB SUMMARY
The Security Officer coordinates schedules for tests, inspections and monitoring of the Hospital’s security and safety systems to ensure a safe and secure environment for employees, patients and visitors. Oversees the security assistants and contracted staff in all aspects of building security, safety and traffic control.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Preserves security of patients, visitors, employees and Hospital property and carries out established security and life safety procedures.
Inspects and adjusts security equipment to ensure they are operational and to detect evidence of tampering.
Completes security log reports on various routine safety equipment inspections and irregularities, if any, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
Responds quickly and appropriately to alarms, all security concerns and emergencies.
Exercises crowd control and safety procedures according to established guidelines.
Ensures effective traffic control near the main entrances to the Hospital for efficient flow and safety.
Inspects and patrols the exterior and interior of the facility and initiates appropriate emergency procedures.
Investigates safety incidents and accidents and takes corrective actions in consultation with the Supervisor.
Collects all pertinent information, statements, evidences, photographs, etc. and completes incident reports as required.
Monitors and guides the security team including contracted personnel.
Answers routine questions from visitors and provides information to assist reception staff as required.
Interacts with patients and visitors in a professional manner to maintain a healthy public image of the Hospital.
Attends to the police station and other government agencies as directed by the Supervisor.
Assists in the development of security plans and procedures by raising hazard alerts and identifying exposures.
Participates in weekly departmental meetings as required.
Enhances professional growth through participation in training programs and in-service meetings.
Performs all other additional assignments as requested.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education : Secondary School
Experience : Preferably 3 years’ experience in security activities. Police or military background is preferable.
OTHER SKILLS: Technical: Knowledge of hospital security equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies. Basic investigative techniques, procedures and requirements. Working knowledge of local laws and government regulations.. Administrative Skills:Problem Sensitivity, Critical Thinking, Judgment and Conflict Management skills.Soft Skills:Excellent Communication and Inter-personal skills.
Computer Skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet Language Skills:Good in written and spoken English, Arabic is an advantage.

PHYSICAL & WORKING CONDITIONS
Works primarily in an air conditioned, well-lighted and comfortable health care facility, while also exposed to infections and close contact with the patients.
May have to work long hours, in shifts and be available to deal with departmental exigencies
Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking and moving. Occasional reaching, stooping, bending and kneeling.
May experience work related pressure.
