Under the overall supervision of the Chief, Information Services Section, the Senior Audio Visual Technician is responsible for the correct operation of audio visual services within the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) Courtroom and for STL video conference systems;
The incumbent develops guidelines for coverage and directs and mixes a variety of audio and video inputs according to those guidelines;
Production and record-keeping of courtroom proceedings and other confidential information;
The STL audio visual systems include the courtroom camera and camera robotics systems, digital congress audio systems and the video delay and distribution system;
The incumbent develops and recommends the implementation of new or revised procedures in support of STL courtroom operations;
The incumbent will operate, repair, upgrade and monitor audio visual services in accordance with STL requirements;
The incumbent interfaces with the staff in the Data Networking and Communications Unit for all aspects related to the storage of audio visual content and in relation to video streaming;
The incumbent works closely with the video director and performs redactions of video and audio information as required;
The incumbent works with contractors assigned to the Unit, in terms of equipment repair and support and maintenance;
Provides inputs in the equipment selection process and in configuration/changes of the courtroom audiovisual setting;
The incumbent also works with others in the unit to ensure that desktop services and information systems are operationally ready for court sessions;
The incumbent is actively involved in all aspects of audio visual systems design to ensure proper operation of the STL audio visual systems;
Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge and Skills
Technological awareness – Comprehensive technical experience and problem-solving skills in the area of video and audio systems in a courtroom and media environment. Comprehensive practical knowledge of relevant audio visual standards and applications as they relate to the area of assignment;
Communication – Good written and oral communications skills. Ability to write in a clear and concise style;
Professionalism – Knowledge of video and audio transmission concepts in both broadcast standard analogue and digital format. Knowledge of audio visual transmission using Internet Protocol (IP) technologies would be an asset. Ability to perform under minimal supervision;
-Teamwork – Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
Education: Completion of secondary education. Post-secondary qualification in audio-visual systems. Industry certification in audiovisual systems and production is desirable;
Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in audio visual systems within a courtroom environment, preferably with at least 3 years at the international level;
Languages: Arabic, English and French are the official languages of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. For this post proficiency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of the other official language(s) is an asset.
