Job profile summary:
The marketing analyst is responsible for long term analytics and intel to support marketing strategy development and Offer Development & Innovation and for performing research, providing insights regarding the market, trends and competitors and making recommendations about potential and existing opportunities to support business growth for the global Petrochemicals businesses.
The role of the marketing analyst sits within the Strategic Marketing team and the post holder will be specifically accountable for:
Monitoring and forecasting market trends and macro-economic conditions and assessing the impact any changes may have upon the marketing strategy
Acting as the global lead on the development of the yearly long term (2+ years) supply/demand forecast and working closely with the regional marketing managers to deliver a unified and reliable view to support strategic planning
Developing and maintaining global analytics databases on supply/demand, trade, CRM and customer/suppliers relationships across the supply chain and working closely with the regional marketing teams to collect and curate market intelligence that will help identify new market opportunities
Conducting end use studies, competitor analysis and secondary research – including finding information from industry associations, marketing experts and the internal global sales & marketing network- to develop a deep understanding of industry segments that drive demand for our products
Driving the Insights process and support the strategic marketing managers through the OD&I pipeline
Bringing collected insight, partnership knowledge, market research to the team and leading them through the decision making process as to when to enter a new or existing market segment with new products/offers
Supporting the businesses by providing point-in-time market analysis as required
Producing marketing collateral for sharing with the regions’ strategic customers to support BP value proposition
Experience & Education Requirements:
Strong understanding of marketing theories and processes and marketing concepts
Experience mining large complex data sets, using a variety of advanced quantitative/modelling techniques in a marketing discipline
Highly numerical with very strong Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables and graphics) and PowerPoint skills.
Highly motivated self-starter who can work without supervision
Ability to process and convert mass information into meaningful management information and present the Big Picture
Strong Commercial Acumen and ability to identify key external dynamics in the marketplace and understand where BP’s competitive edge would & would not lie
Strategic thinker able to synthesize data from a broad range of sources, making strategic links between issues to see the broader picture.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range of people from different nationalities, backgrounds and varying seniority, and to build consensus.
Attention to detail and ability to interpret and communicate information effectively is key for this role
Clear presentation and strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate methods and results to a non-technical audience
Desirable Criteria & Qualifications
Knowledge of the Aromatics / Acetyls industry
Degree in Marketing, Math, Social Sciences or similar professional qualification/experience
Experience in B2B or B2B2C Marketing
