Senior Systems Engineering Manager – Nawah Energy , Barakah, UAE

Job Description
Manage a system engineering approach to asset management in order to address medium-term and long-term issues, and ensure the overall health of the plant’s monitored systems, including; Balance of Plant systems (BOP), Nuclear Steam Supply Systems (NSSS), Electrical, and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) systems.
System Engineering

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Designate the standards and metrics for evaluation of the system health and performance to provide a consistent benchmark for measuring assigned systems.
Review the department’s effectiveness in managing system health and performance to improve plant reliability and effectiveness.
Review the results of system performance monitoring, system walk down, and system health evaluation to ensure engineering staff are performing adequately.
Review and validate proposed solutions for long-term system issues to improve long-term system reliability.
Develop department-level priorities for long-term plant equipment investment items to extend system life, improve or maintain system reliability.
Monitor the impact of the preventive maintenance item definition and frequency to assess and report the impact on cost.
Validate that select maintenance activities important to plant safety and reliability are being witnessed to confirm use of appropriate procedures.
Review results of cause determination and corrective action for maintenance preventable functional failures (MPFFs) and recommendations to monitor systems, structures or components (SSCs) required by Maintenance Rule (MR) to improve plant reliability and effectiveness.
Ensure the provision of support operations, maintenance and Engineering Rapid Response Team (ERRT) for the assigned systems, through:
Monitoring start-up testing (such as power ascension testing) and Performance Test (PT) to identify any system engineering issues.
Monitoring the results of technical reviews on work orders important to safety and reliability to verify the efficacy of the reviews.
Reviewing cause analyses of equipment failures and review identified trouble-shooting requirements to assist in developing repair and reliability improvement plans.
Monitoring operating experience (OE) reviews to ensure relevant material is being communicated.
Monitor trouble-shooting results on assigned systems to ensure efficacy.
Monitor system notebook management for assigned systems to ensure continued value is being derived.
Support the assigned design change and modifications to ensure consistency with system plans.
Support the management of assigned functional locations and Equipment master database to keep the databases current.
Review and report technical review results on assigned procurement specifications to ensure useful and accurate specifications.
Nuclear Performance Improvement (NPI)

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Manage the System Engineering NPI activities through the Corrective Action Program (CAP), trending analysis and investigations, scheduling self-assessments and benchmarking, correction of human performance and using operating experience to ensure continuous improvement.
Outage and Emergency Response Organization (ERO) Support
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Support outage and/or the emergency response organization, as assigned, to ensure safe, reliable and continued operations; this may require shift work/off hours support.
Operational Planning

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Provide input into the development of the Division’s systems, processes and procedures, as well develop and implement the Department’s systems and processes, identifying potential areas of improvement to ensure efficient, effective, safe and risk-free operations as well as compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
Monitor, control and report Operational and financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to the Department, to track performance and recommend corrective or mitigating actions.
Ensure that all relative reports are prepared timely and accurately, and meet the Department’s requirements and standards.
Health and Safety and Security

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Ensure compliance to all relevant health, safety and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the Division/Department/Section by the delivery of the Health and Safety Management Program to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality services and a responsible environmental attitude.
Follow all relevant Security policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure security compliance in all aspects of work, by applying them on self, others and Corporate assets.
Ensure compliance with corporate requirements for adherence to policies, procedures and instructions related to Crisis Management and Business Continuity in order to continue mission critical activities.

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related Science.
10 years of relevant experience, out of which:
2 years in a Managerial role.
2 years of Nuclear Power Plant engineering experience.
