Overview
We are seeking a Submarine Cable Engineer to join our Power Systems Engineering Department (PSED) working under our High Voltage Equipment Unit (HVEU).
PSED is responsible for providing and managing highly technical and specialized engineering services to support the safe and reliable operation of Saudi Aramco electrical power system generation, transmission and distribution networks.
HVEU provides technical support for the company with regards to designs, standards, commissioning, maintenance, operation and investigations with regards to power submarine cables to ensure a safe and reliable power supply.
Your primary role will be to perform the required support and provide high level technical advices with regards to submarine cable installation, operation, testing, and maintenance at different voltage levels starting with selection and ending with retirement of assets. A thorough understanding of different designs, manufacturers, installations and issues related to the field are required. You will also act as a subject matter expert, jointly working with all relevant entities in the company, providing services to power systems customers to ensure safe and reliable power supply in the most cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate will be required to perform the following:
Provide technical support in relation to submarine cable assets.
Develop expertise in relation to submarine cable design, manufacture, testing, pre-commissioning, installation procedures, short circuit analysis, fault percolation and pinpointing techniques.
Review technical packages for submarine cable capital projects and lead technical expertise for submarine cable readiness activities and initiatives.
Uphold a leading specialist technical role in submarine cable emergency repair with the ability to coordinate all aspects of the repair operation within our company and with specialist contractors.
Participate in FAT in a leading capacity demonstrating depth of compliance with manufacturing standards such as IEC.
Review company standards in relation to submarine cable assets and be familiar with the relevant international standards.
Conduct submarine cable fault investigation and forensic examination activities.

Minimum Requirements
You must hold a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering. A Masters degree is preferred.
You must have Professional Engineer certification such as chartership with recognized Engineering Institution.
You should have a minimum of 10 years experience, demonstrated by suitable references primarily in the area of submarine cables design, projects and operation.
You should have technical design level insight in submarine cable designs of minimum 15kV and higher with firsthand experience of fault-finding techniques, splicing methods suitable to deep and shallow water, cabling handling requirements, such as trans pooling techniques and best practice and constraints.
You should be able to demonstrate active participation in leading capacity during commissioning as part of a teams or as OEM.
Be able to demonstrate international best practice competency for submarine cable technology through contribution in international conferences as submarine cables specialist and participate in CIGRE WG as a member.
You must be familiar with submarine cable manufacturing quality assurance and quality control requirements.
Preferred to have experience in oil and gas industrial system.
