Technical Sales Support Specialist – ABB , UAE

You will be working as a Technical Sales Support specialist and will be part of the Industrial Automation Business Area for Energy Industries Division based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. In this role, you will be creating and completing bids, estimations or quotations based on customer specification, customer requirements or budget in order to achieve both market competitiveness and high margin for the company. You will be maintaining and improving the balance between all ABB divisions and customers that are present in the area of responsibility. You will also be supporting the sales organization and customers throughout the proposal process by preparing technical descriptions of the applied products and technology, determining costs, preparing final documentation, and serving as a key technical resource in the assigned area.

Your responsibilities
Formulating competitive bids, estimations or quotations taking into account best available product mix and appropriate technical and commercial considerations for each individual situation. Ensuring tenders are well documented in a timely manner and with appropriate level of detail, including full and accurate costs. Defining cost for the proposed solution and communicates to sales organization.
Defining the most suitable technology and product type(s) to be used based on application characteristics. Defining the configuration in accordance with bid commercial needs and requested quality metrics.
Managing the preparation of all technical (e.g. defining the most suitable technology and product type(s), financial (e.g. total price sheet, cash flow analysis) and if necessary, project management (e.g. quantifies hours of engineering and commissioning) aspects of the bid or estimation or quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions. Collecting and collating all information needed to prepare the proposal, including both technical and cost elements. Participating in the kickoff meeting organized by the project team. Analyzing internal project management and project engineering activities to estimate cost.
Managing the first technical inspection to retrieve all the information needed to prepare the proposal. Obtaining cost information from relevant internal contacts, including carrying site visits to survey the SoW. Ensuring that inputs for editing activities are provided on time and according to established quality procedures. Managing external services to support bid or estimation preparation such as translations, governmental approvals, OPC management, etc.
Identifying potential risks in the bids, quotations and estimations in any related contract agreements across customers or channels. Providing information and/or participates in the Risk Review process in accordance with ABB policy.
Identifying potential vendors for equipment and materials required in the project and evaluating technically supplier offers to check match with specifications. Collaborating with Supply Chain Management to coordinate requests to subcontractors.
Collecting and archiving documentation regarding the offer and records assumptions and decisions taken during the development process. Reporting regularly the status of the bids or estimations or quotations using defined tools and collecting and analyzing the reasons for tenders being lost and won. Performing lost proposal analysis, identifying potential cause, and recommending future actions in cooperation with sales or Local Division to obtain better future results.

Your background
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics.
Minimum 8 yrs years’ experience out of which 3 yrs should be in electrical systems.
Should have product tendering and system tendering experience.
Required good experience in bid, proposal and tendering for electrical systems like transformers, switchgear etc..
Should be able to work with remote teams and Should be both technically and commercially sound.
Required good communication and presentation skills.
