Employee Relations Advisor – Burberry , Kuwait

JOB PURPOSE
To deliver a balanced case management advisory service that reflects the need to assess and manage risk, whilst responding to business needs.
The role will be accountable for delivering commercially focused expert advice remotely (phone, e-mail, internal case management system) or in person in all aspects of Employee Relations
Providing clear interpretation of HR policy to line managers and employees on a wide-range of subjects including discipline and grievance, performance and absence management. You will apply a proactive approach with business leaders to coach and train them on policy and process to unlock their potential in effective employee relations case management. Acting as the primary contact for employees and interfacing with the Centres of Expertise and HR Business Partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as point of contact for employees, line managers and HR teams across specific functions and locations to provide specialist employee relations case management advice and support services in both informal ER interventions as well as complex, high risk or high profile cases.
Able to determine priority cases, deciding on the best approach on a case by case basis and in line with policy and procedures.
Demonstrate ability to make sound judgement, ensuring balanced advice that manages risk but drives end results, which are both fair and in line with Burberry values as well as commercially appropriate.
Follow through to conclusion on any cases escalated raised via Burberry Confidential, this may require hands on approach and taking lead role in investigations
Coach line managers to upskill them in the management of employee relations cases , developing line manager expertise specifically in managing disciplinary, grievance, fair treatment, capability and performance related issues through to appeal
Where appropriate lead on appeal hearings, settlement discussions or provide mediation services to drive case resolution
Hold high standards of case confidentiality and ensure that confidentiality is a clearly understood element of all business relationships between the team and those they advise
Where cases are concluded, support line managers with the processing of relevant changes to conclusion i.e. work with Employee Services for associated administration
Liaise with Employment Lawyers internally and externally to review complex cases and limit risk
Lead or support complex change management processes as required by the business ensuring risk management throughout and successful delivery
Be a Subject Matter expert within a nominated ER Specialism, responsible for coaching other team members, developing Burberry Policy and processes and keeping up to date on legislation changes etc
Support and coach HR Administrators to facilitate knowledge and experience growth
Review all offers/contracts of employment prepared by the HR Administrator before issue
Promote use of HR systems and tools whenever applicable
Maintain your own personal development ensuring up to date and relevant expert knowledge and skills in your field

PERSONAL PROFILE
Able to manage competing demands on time
Able to challenge across all levels based on employment law knowledge and case management experience
Have strong organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and an expert understanding and grasp of how to operate within an environment of multiple HR policies and procedures
Be customer focused and be able to apply commercial focus and legislative knowledge to real situations in a business environment
Ability to adapt responses to situation and nature of request through acquired experience
Be able to use initiative and operate on a self-sufficient and autonomous basis, with the support of the wider ER team and ER Manager
Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Be proficient use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Able to analyse and interpret ER data
English Language skills – verbal and written (essential)

Experience
Minimum 2 years’ experience of working in an ER Advisor capacity or environment
Credible expertise in all aspects of HR specifically employee relations, employment law, occupational health, immigration and rights to work
Able to operate in significant ambiguity and advise in ‘grey areas’ of employee relations
Mediation skills and techniques
Strong Coaching skills and experience of coaching line managers through Employee Relations situations
Writing and Delivery of line manager training
Must have up to date knowledge of Employment law and be commercially astute, results driven and adaptable
