User Assistance Developer – SAP , Oman

Purpose and Objective:
Ariba Inc. seeks a User Assistance Developer at Palo Alto, CA location to create user assistance (UA) deliverables that enable users to deploy, administer, and use SAP software, and/or coordinates the creation of these UA deliverables.

Expectations and Tasks:
UA deliverables include, but are not limited to, terminology, UI texts, guides, multimedia, scripts, context-sensitive help, tutorials, and social-media content. Collaborate and communicate, as applicable, with internal stakeholders, such as subject-matter experts, user experience (UX), development, validation, and product support. Collaborate and communicate with external stakeholders such as customers and partners to develop and review UA deliverables through, for example, customer engagement activities, social media, usability tests, and feedback channels. Identify information needs of, among others, users for UA deliverables and other content by researching social media (for example, discussion forums on SAP SCN), and is aware of and responsive to what users are discussing. Ensure UI texts are clear and translatable, and support the tasks of the user. Use appropriate style and tone for the product and the audience according to the target group and market. Give, receive, and implement feedback on UA deliverables. Apply all relevant SAP standards and guidelines for the given product/area, and ensures UA deliverables are aligned with them as well as with the content architecture. Actively provides feedback on these standards and guidelines using the appropriate channels. Proofread and edit content for relevance and linguistic correctness, as well as for terminology that is simple, consistent, and that conforms to industry standards. Submit content for language editing to a UA colleague if required, to ensure high-quality deliverables in the source language. Use the software to test the accuracy of UA deliverables. Prepare content for delivery, including the provision of metadata, following the standard production process. Plan and coordinate the UA deliverables for a product area or project, as applicable. Participate in projects to improve UA tools, processes, and content. Follow and apply relevant industry and technology trends for user assistance, as applicable, at SAP. 10% travel required.

Education and Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and 1 year of experience required. The company will also accept a Master’s degree and 0 years of experience.

Work Experience:
Experience or coursework must include: write documentation from specifications; software documentation and context sensitive help authoring, image capturing and version control; DITA or structured documentation; align documentation deliverables with content architecture; create documentation plans; document application for business users. 10% travel required.
Travel: 10% travel required.
