Your commitment
Teaching and Learning
Prepare syllabi, lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments to create an optimum learning environment in alignment with the School’s curriculum outcomes, evolving professional scopes of practice, and industry requirements.
Plan and deliver instruction to maximize student development and retention, employing a variety of teaching and development strategies, and making modifications to meet diverse student needs.
Facilitate, monitor and evaluate student learning and progress.
Provide reflection on course delivery to help maintain program quality and relevancy to stakeholders.
Demonstrate a command of educational and professional best practices within the discipline by aligning learning assignments within practical industry-relevant contexts.
Maintain currency of knowledge and practice through professional development, applied research and / or desk research.
Classroom Management
Use Scheduled class time effectively.
Establish a safe, cooperative and respectful learning environment.
Ensure student accommodations are identified and responded to within the capabilities of the college and the learning environment.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance and provide prompt feedback, recording grades and attendance within established deadlines.
Maintain course portfolio documents required for accreditation purposes and engage in instructional redevelopment/improvement plans.
Oversee the work of Teaching Assistants to ensure laboratory equipment is appropriately prepared for instructional delivery and, appropriate supplies and instructional resources are available for lessons and demonstrations.
Operational
Learn, use and recommend educational technologies and resources to enhance learning experiences for students.
Prepare high quality learning support materials using the College’s LMS (D2L) to engage learners, and enhance student learning.
Contribute to the development of course outlines during program reviews and new program development.
Fulfill the role of subject-matter-expert through various program and campus-wide activities as well as external industry and community engagements.
Maintain membership in relevant professional organizations.
Initiate and contribute to scholarly and creative activities that are experiential and applied in nature, aligned with the technical/vocational focus of the College, and are in support of Qatar’s research priorities.
Contribute to faculty, course and program meetings and participate in initiatives to monitor and enhance student success.
Provide substitution for colleagues in case of absence to ensure that there is no interruption in student learning.
Employ personal knowledge, expertise, and professional skills to benefit the College, the students, the discipline or profession, and the community at large in a manner consistent with, and in support of, the College mission.
Undertake pedagogical and technical/discipline-specific professional development according to personal needs for continuous improvement that can serve the College.
Qualifications
Masters (or equivalent as designated and approved) in a relevant discipline from a recognized, accredited institution. A terminal degree in a closely related field may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certification or licensure
Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Education (e.g. Post-secondary Education, Adult Education or Vocational Education)

Preferred Experience:
Knowledge and experience with the operation of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining and Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems is required.
Knowledge and experience in machining and machine shops.
Experience teaching at the post-secondary level is an asset.
Expertise in curriculum development is desirable.
Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills and expert fluency in English are required.
A demonstrated commitment to working in a team and learner centered environment is also required.
Intercultural competence including intercultural sensitivity and adaptability, and an ability to behave appropriately and effectively in another culture are essential.
