Group IT Program Management Office (PMO) is at the heart of this digital transformation. We are building this organization from ground up to be the new industry benchmark for modern and agile PMO’s globally. At the onset the PMO will build and execute the portfolio, program, project, and product management of all critical initiatives in Qatar Airways IT. We will learn and grow our strategy and execution as we deliver key products and onboard new leaders.
As a Sr. Manager, you will own the delivery of key business initiatives and products. At Qatar Airways you will take on director level responsibility and will report directly to the VP of Group IT PMO. Your industry experience in agile product management and program management is crucial in building an organization that will manage effective kick-off, execution, and value delivery of large scale programs. You will have the opportunity to lead or participate in building and executing the agile Project and Portfolio Management team that will be the standard in IT as well as leveraged across the company.
Part of your responsibility is to build an agile delivery leadership practice. The role of a delivery leader is a combination of scrum master and agile project manager. These delivery leaders will be embedded in key big rock products that are key for the Qatar Airways Group. As a practice leader, your responsibility is to ensure we hire and retain the right talent and grow the delivery leadership skills within your team and across Qatar Airways IT. This role is key driver for the lean and agile transformation of Qatar Airways Group as it will drive the new ways of working across IT and business to deliver business value faster.
What you need to bring to this role?
10+ years of experience in which 5+ years of management experience required
You should hold a Bachelor Degree (preferably in technical area). Master’s Degree will be preferred
Business/IS Strategy and Planning
Project Management and Relationship Management
Preferably Airline domain experience with commercial background
Software Development experience will be strongly preferred
Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow.
Strong mentoring and coaching skills with ability to train and develop subordinates’ skills and ability to foster teamwork.
Command of English Language.
SAFe, Scrum, PMI, and other agile certifications will be preferred
Technical Skills required for the role:
Agile Product Management
Have the experience to build outcome based roadmaps in partnership with business and lead a team to follow agile principles and deliver business capability incrementally. Prefer to have experience transforming a large organization from legacy towards agile product management.
Large Scale Program Management
Have the experience to define vision, mission, and strategy on large scale, cross-functional business initiative. Create team structure, operating cadence, and appropriate reporting. Manage the performance and scope to capture the intended business value and is accountable for delivering results.
Portfolio Management/Business Relationship
Have built or managed an IT portfolio including financial planning, prioritization, building strategy, realizing value in partnership with business units.
Agile Software Development
Has either yourself or lead a team that has developed software leveraging agile methodology. Prefer to have experience with transforming a legacy development organization to agile and modern software development.
IT Infrastructure, Cloud
Must have a great understanding of what cloud is and why it matters to the business and software engineering agility. Prefer to have experience transforming legacy infrastructure to modern internal or external cloud services
People and Relationship Management
Have experience managing senior and beginner level staff of varying diversity and background. Must have the ability to provide guidance to Program Managers and Sr. Digital Delivery Leads for appropriate agile principles. Ensure all senior digital delivery leads are applying defined governance methodology to support all Lines of Businesses. Have strong relationship building skills with IT Line of Business and Department Heads.
