Director, Marketing and Communications – Islamic Development Bank , Saudi Arabia

Job Purpose:
Overall communications lead. Responsible for all IsDB communications and marketing strategy and execution. Manages Communications, Marketing, Digital and Events Teams.
Manages all external and internal strategic communications, marketing and promotion of the Bank’s activities and to be responsible to enhance and sustain the global image, identity, brand and reputation of IsDB. Furthermore, to prepare and disseminate the precise information to the appropriate channels and outlets, internally as well as externally to IsDB. To coordinate and supervise the communication of the Regional Hubs. To maintain various IsDB platforms including the External Website and Social Media.

Roles and Responsibilities:
1- General Responsibilities
Set and deliver the objectives for the division in order to enable IsDB to achieve its branding, marketing and communications goals
Participate in the formulation/ development of the IsDB strategy for communications and external relations
Encourage employee engagement and supports change management and develops culture of openness and transparency within IsDB
Increase visibility and improves relationship with stakeholders including the media, investors, civil society organizations, and researchers
Provide strategic direction in developing a long-term and sustainable communications plan for a variety of audiences in line with the mission and beliefs.
Coordinate key communications activity in all markets (external and internal), working with external agencies, key stakeholders and external media to leverage these opportunities in a variety of ways across different platforms and using a variety of methods such as (videos, emails, webcasts, presentations, social media and events).
Create communications plans and campaigns that support the organisation’s strategy and priorities; corporate and business unit objectives; and centralized Communications strategies.
Develop communications for IsDB senior executives, ensuring that members of senior management are speaking with one voice on key topics. Identify and secure external speaking opportunities, and work with external media to leverage these opportunities in a variety of ways.
Identify key moments e.g., launches, organisations announcements and determine the correct messaging to support these various campaigns globally / in the market/region.
Along with proactive campaigning, you’ll also develop a strategic plan around reactive crisis communications and assist in media training senior executives as part of this preparation.
Develop and deliver a strategy for raising awareness and engagement with Engage and Transform, IsDB’s flagship initiatives for science, tech and innovation.
Oversee the activation of all campaigns around business purpose and CSR, lead on activity and messaging including their alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Partner with colleagues in other regions and at the global level to develop company-wide communications that drive culture change and underscore the P5P strategy and vision.
Coordinate corporate communications programs that convey the value that IsDB delivers to various stakeholders.
The role holder will be expected to communicate and collaborate with the other regions communications and marketing teams and at Global level to ensure alignment, maximize resources and project and promote a consistent narrative to all stakeholders.
Oversee implementation an annual calendar of promotional events and activities
Oversee the management and collaboration with a range of agencies and vendors, working closely with the lead communications agency to project manage integrated campaign activity.

Internal Communications:
Communicates the vision, mission and strategy of the bank to all staff and ensures that all employees within the organization are informed
Works with DG Country Relations and Services as well as DG Global Practices and Chief Economist to integrate a communication plan during the projects preparation and implementation
Supports management and other organizational units in creating awareness about programs, projects and other issues relevant to staff
Supervises the design, layout and publication of the various reports of IsDB and ensures the accuracy of the information provided
Ensures the division revises, edits and improves the quality of communication outputs of complexes
Contributes to the development and dissemination of the knowledgebase of communication best practices
Ensures the dissemination of relevant information, promotions and campaigns in the regional hubs

External Communications:
Develops and strategically communicates, promotes and markets IsDB’s main activities
Promotes the positive image of IsDB in member as well as non-member countries
Establishes partnerships with leading media organizations at an international level including member countries
Identifies and partners with global influencers to serve as ambassadors for the bank in reaching out to external stakeholders
Liaises with the media to disseminate information concerning IsDB
Develops and executes an effective social and multimedia strategy across channels
Analyses and prepares appropriate response on stories and other activities that could pose a reputational risk to the image of IsDB
Drafts and disseminates speeches for IsDB Management
Advices the management team and client-centric staff on media management, public speeches and other external stakeholder engagements
Prepares and executes the crisis communication strategy for IsDB
Develops and maintains an online presence for IsDB, including the management of IsDB’s website and social media presence
Publishes promotional materials such as newsletters, leaflets, or information booklets
2- Leadership Responsibilities
Coordinates the provision of advisory services and technical guidance in matters related to communications and external relations to IsDB’s organizational units
Provides motivational and inspirational leadership for the division, and communicates to direct reports clear performance expectations
Manages the performance and resources of the division through delegation of responsibility, setting stretch objectives and providing regular feedback on results at a division level, promptly addressing areas of underperformance
Monitors and assesses the skills and capabilities of the division, and determines the actions needed to increase the division’s impact and resolve capability gaps
Coaches, mentors and develops the direct reports and the top talent/high potentials in the division
Acts as a role-model to communicate to the division’s staff IsDB’s values and leadership competencies; provide direction and support in times of change

Job Requirements:
Academic Qualifications
Master’s Degree (Required), Ph.D. (Preferable) in Communication or Marketing/Branding, Journalism or relevant subject area required.
Communications or marketing international qualification desirable.

Minimum number of years and nature of experience
15+ years of relevant experience in managing marketing and communications function.
3-5 years in a senior marketing and communications role for a global organisation or business, with demonstrated success.
10 years’ experience in marketing and communications role for a global organisation or business.
Extensive experience working on integrated marketing and communications (marcom) campaigns.
Proven ability to build relationships across business units and functional areas.
Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to develop new and original content and communications.
Strong social and digital related experience.
