Mechanical Maintenance Manager – Nawah Energy Company , UAE

Job Description
Oversee the maintenance and inspections work, performed by employees and Maintenance Contractors of all mechanical work on plant systems, structures and components. Verify that the organization is capable of performing the required work. Lead the department activities in support of continuous improvement, including department responsibilities for CAP. Ensure that activities are performed per regulatory requirements, nuclear standards for nuclear safety, industrial safety, and environmental protection requirements and commitments.

1. Mechanical Maintenance
• Oversee that all mechanical maintenance tasks are performed in a timely manner and with quality to achieve the highest level of safety and system/ component reliability
• Lead containment leakage rate tests including maintaining airlocks and hatch to confirm that leakage through the primary reactor containment and systems and components penetrating the containment do not exceed allowable leakage rates.
• Verify that the organization is able to support, perform, or oversee snubbers inspections, and Non-Destructive Examinations (NDE) such as Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Eddy-Current Testing (ECT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Testing (MT), and Radiographic Testing (RT) to ensure compliance with maintenance procedures.
• Oversee the final check inspection to ensure plant operational readiness prior to leaving an outage period.
• Identify equipment improvement items and request procurement for equipment turned over & spare parts and special tools to ensure an adequate supply of maintenance equipment and materials.
• Develop maintenance convenient facility items and manage Maintenance Shops to ensure organizational excellence.
• Monitor maintenance department performance of periodic and surveillance tests to ensure timely and successful completion of the test and surveillance requirements.
• Manage mechanical maintenance Corrective Action Program (CAP) requirements to ensure continuous improvement in the Maintenance department
• Ensure that the maintenance workers, including supplemental workers are familiar and compliant with the Conduct of Maintenance.
• Develop documents related to installation and service contracts to retain information relevant to those contracts.
• Monitor inspections performance to ensure that Maintenance support of non-destructive examinations (NDE) is consistent with procedures.
• Prepare for World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO), Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO), and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) peer reviews to ensure alignment to industry best practices.

2. Staff Training and Qualification
• Manage management expectations and monitor the performance of the departments against the Conduct of Maintenance to ensure high level of safety and reliability of mechanical systems.
• Monitor training effectiveness and consult with training staff to improve training effectiveness.
• Critically evaluate performance of individual staff to develop necessary training.
• Validate training programs provide necessary technical knowledge and skills to ensure staff are properly trained and qualified to conduct assigned responsibilities.
• Provide training feedback on program effectiveness with evaluation of performance to ensure quality of training and qualification program.
3. Outage and Emergency Response Organization (ERO) Support
• Support outage and/or the emergency response organization, as assigned, to ensure safe, reliable and continued operations; this may require shift work/off hours support.
4. Operational Planning
• Assist in the development of the Division’s systems, processes and procedures, as well develop and implement the Department’s systems and processes, identifying potential areas of improvement to ensure efficient, effective, safe and risk-free operations as well as compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor, control and report Operational and financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to the Department, to track performance and recommend corrective or mitigating actions.
• Ensure that all relative reports are prepared timely and accurately, and meet the Department’s requirements and standards.

Skills
• Diploma or Equivalent.
• 10 years of relevant experience, out of which:
­ minimum 2 years in a Managerial role, including:
i. Nuclear power operations.
ii. Refueling outage (or initial fuel load).
iii. Startup Testing.
– 2 years Nuclear Power Plant experience.

Preferred:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• APR-1400 or OPR-1000 maintenance and engineering experience.
