Senior Chemistry QA/QC Specialist – Nawah , UAE

Job Description
Lead the Chemistry Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) program at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) as per the regulatory requirements, operating policies and principles, nuclear standards for nuclear safety, industrial safety, and environmental protection, to ensure overall business performance objectives are achieved.

1. Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC)
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Execute the following job responsibilities in a timely manner and with quality to achieve highest level of safety and reliability:
Recommend for approval, to the central chemistry governance management, valid requirements for new instrumentation or new analysis requirements based on instrument capabilities, program needs and experience.
Review validation and documentation of instrument methodologies and develop new methodologies based on industry best practice and regulatory requirements.
Recommend for approval, to the central chemistry governance management, QA/QC control limits for all Chemistry instrumentation.
Lead the establishment of initial QA/QC documentation as needed.
Lead the Chemistry QA/QC program to include:
Inter-laboratory and Intra-laboratory standard programs including interface with the program vendors, evaluation of results, required investigations based on results, analyst performance records, and evaluation of analysts not meeting performance requirements.
Review and approve program documents completed by analyst and instrument specialists.
Periodic reviews and reports on the overall QA/QC programs including evaluations of long term trends, inter-lab results, comparison against industry norms, and results of evaluations into performance deficiencies.
Develop the relationships, consistent across all units, with off-site laboratories and vendors needed to implement and sustain an inter lab standard program in order to meet BNPP needs.
Check laboratory facilities to ensure standards are maintained.
Check maintenance of analysis instruments in normal operation state to ensure alignment with standards.
Check maintenance of chemical reagents and analytical standards to ensure alignment with standards.
Verify the accuracy and reliability of each laboratory analytical instruments to ensure accurate readings.

2. Staff Training and Qualification
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Periodically observe Chemistry classroom training via On-the-Job Training/Task Performance Evaluation (OJT/TPE) and provide critical feedback on program effectiveness and coaching to ensure personnel are meeting high standards of performance resulting in well trained and qualified Chemistry Staff capable of implementing Chemistry programs and processes.
3. Health and Safety and Security

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Follow all relevant company’s Health and Safety policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure compliance in all aspects of work as per sound management practices. Apply these policies and procedures to self and others to ensure reasonable care of the health and safety of the employee; the environment; and various individuals who may be affected by the employee’s acts or omissions at work.
Follow all relevant Security policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure security compliance in all aspects of work, by applying them on self, others and Corporate assets.
Ensure compliance with corporate requirements for adherence to policies, procedures and instructions related to Crisis Management and Business Continuity in order to continue mission critical activities.
4. People Management

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Contribute to the development of UAE National employees in a manner which supports the objectives of the corporation and its Emiratization strategy.
Contribute to knowledge dissemination/sharing in a way that assists with building internal capabilities of UAE Nationals where applicable and maximize their effective performance.

Academic Qualification and Experience

Bachelor of Science Degree.
5 years of relevant experience.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related Science/ Engineering program or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
8 years of experience in Chemistry or Chemistry support organization of an operating Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), out of which: – 5 years of experience managing or supervising management of an industry standard laboratory QA/QC program.
3 months BNPP site experience.
