An exciting opportunity exists to join the BAE Systems majority owned Joint Venture company ‘Saudi Development Training’ (SDT) as Head of Programme Management
The job holder is responsible for identifying, creating and developing new opportunities for the Business and maturing them until the point that the Business can take a pursue/stop decision. The job holder will be the primary interface with customers when requested and lead the market intelligence and acts as the Capture Manager maturing opportunities for the business.
The post holder is responsible for the following:
Grow and lead the Non-BAE Systems (External) related business.
Has a key role leading the understanding and influencing/shaping of the customer requirement, defining opportunity timeline and acting as customer advocate during solution development
Develops clear understanding of and communicates the customer procurement process and customer Critical Success Factors & ”Hot Buttons” that underpin the win strategy
Manages, develops and maintains a strong relationship with the customers, key influencers and local consultants (where used) in relation to the opportunity.
Manages, develops and maintains a stakeholder management plan.
Identifies, creates & develops new business opportunities and generates appropriate business case(s) to support Phase review pursue/stop decisions until Capture Team formation.
Generates opportunities that support the Corporate/Business IBP objective and result in a suitably balanced portfolio of opportunities, products and markets.
Undertakes internal stakeholder management to gain support for pursuit of new business opportunities and in support of strategic BD opportunities
Provides support to pan-Company opportunities and alignment of Business IBP to strategic opportunities
Provides customer views and expectations on price as part of defining the Price to Win derivation
Major contributor to communications plan and (typically leader of) the customer/stakeholder identification and contact plan elements of the Capture Plan
Leads the customer and local market intelligence gathering and acts as the main conduit for intelligence on customer’s requirement ensuring the capture & bid/proposal team are kept up to date
Has significant role in achieving deal closure while working as the Capture Manager
The post holder must:
Degree or equivalent in Business
Experience working competitive Business Development, Business Winning, proposals and competitive campaigns in the training or technical domains.
Experience with proposals and campaigns in excess of SAR 50m.
Experience in a dynamic business environment.
Knowledge of the academic program accreditation procedures a strong plus.
Experience in the industry working programs and competitive proposals/ captures.
Training background highly desirable, with knowledge and experience of engineering training.
Must have good understanding of the roles and responsibilities of all functional areas required to deliver a compliant bid: Engineering, Estimating, Commercial, Finance, Procurement, Quality, and Project Management & Operations.
Have a good understanding of all functional areas and their responsibilities in delivering new business and supporting campaigns in order to be able to assess interdependencies, effectively challenge performance and progress cross-functional team integration.Manage resources and stakeholders within the direct control of the prospects and campaigns, and more importantly those of the wider business that will need to provide support to ensure prospects/campaign success.
The key responsibilities
of the role cover a very diverse and broad range of strategic campaign related activities. This brings a challenging requirement to balance priorities across a large pool of stakeholders on an ongoing basis, whilst ensuring campaign timescales are not compromised.
This diversity of high level objectives requires the ability to be versatile and decisive across numerous subjects at any one time, to maximise output across the range of internal/external customers on behalf of all prospects / campaigns.
As well as being a leader, the role holder will need to be an excellent team player and will need to quickly develop strong relationships in order to understand the roles of all stakeholders and their involvement, participation and contribution.
Role requires the need to address and resolve many issues without escalation. Resolution should typically involve team discussion.
Due to the significant complexity of campaigns which are often worked jointly with other Business Units the need to bridge the gap including differences in culture, procedures, processes and capabilities will require the role holder to have exceptional interpersonal skills across all areas.
Early capture / campaign management requires excellent interpersonal skills to ensure compliancy and bid team, project and wider business agreement and buy-in. Tact and diplomacy are key skills / attributes.
The role holder requires keen powers of persuasion, influencing and negotiating skills which can be employed both internally and externally. Requirement to interface with senior personnel across the business including up to MD level.
Ability to lead and influence at all levels.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills (both verbal and literacy) and the ability to create robust internal / external relationships at all levels and to positively contribute to a team environment.
The nature of the job requires that the job holder will need to be a self – starter. Many issues will be diverse. Decisions and problem solving will not necessarily be referred upwards. Must be capable of making decisions using clear judgement and experience.
Must have strong people management skills to ensure successful delivery of professional support and people development
