Regulatory Affairs Manager – Casual Dining – Alshaya , Kuwait

Role Profile:
To monitor and network across the regulatory environment for any changes in food & beverage regulation or any food concerns or trends that may impact on the business, from import to retail sale.
The below Key Performance Areas include but are not limited to:
Regulatory Affairs
Be responsible for liaising with regulators and law makers to understand upcoming new regulation and standards that are in development and that may impact our business.
Give priority to the following GCC markets: KSA, Kuwait, Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain.
Form close working relationships with the most prominent law makers
Work with key internal stakeholders to form the relationships that are needed and/or develop relationships where they do not already exist.
The role will support all brands, all markets (Food and Starbucks Divisions), while utilizing the experience and networks that already exist in local markets.
Lead and coordinate liaison with various authorities to gain better knowledge of regulatory changes in key markets.
Inform the business of potential changes so that decisions are made how best to respond and so ensure compliance with these changes.
Influence and inform decision makers within authorities in the best interest of the business, under guidance from the Head of QA.
Internal – Work with and through GRD to be close to Ministry of Municipalities in each market. Internal stakeholders include: GRD, Central Operations – Food, Logistics, Supply Chain and QA.
External stakeholders include: Ministry of Municipalities, Ministry of Health, Chamber of Commerce (GCC); Saudi Food and Drug Authority, Public Authority for Food & Nutrition Kuwait, Dubai Municipality Food Control Department.
Identify relevant online resources and sign up to them, e.g. newsfeeds, subscription pages, website announcement pages of stakeholders.
Food Issues
To highlight any local, regional or international food issues to which the business may need to respond.
General
Agree individual objectives and KPIs.
Seek out opportunities to improve ways of working to improve service where required.
Provide data and analysis to line manager and as required by the business.
Any other duties to support QA function as required by line manager

Knowledge:
B.Sc. degree in Food Science, Food Technology or Food Microbiology preferred with 5 years government/food law, food safety or other relevant food experience.
Demonstrable and practical HACCP Knowledge, Food safety management systems.

Experience:
Experienced in food manufacturing or restaurant operations.
Familiar with best practice of food safety management.
Experience in working with local or regional regulatory authorities.

Skills:
Very presentable and able to communicate confidently in Arabic and English with stakeholders and all levels of business management.
Good negotiation and influencing skills.
Well organised and able to multi-task multiple projects
Able to collect and analyse complex data, evaluate information and draw conclusions / make recommendations.
Good report writing and presentation skills – verbal and written
