The College of the North Atlantic – Qatar is inviting nominations and applications for the position Section Head – Business Applications in the Information Technology Department. Reporting to the IT Manager, the Section Head – Business Applications must be a proven leader with the skills and expertise necessary to support the Information Technology Department in fully implementing the College’s mission and vision.

Duties & Responsibilities:
This position requires an energetic and enthusiastic individual who will oversee the day-to-day operations of the software development team. Additionally, the candidate will also be responsible for planning and implementing project schedules, manage technical resources, coordinating with all development stakeholders, and manage a team of application specialists, analysts and administrators to meet CNA-Q’s strategic and operational objectives.
Candidates will provide technical oversight for the Business Applications team, and ensure the appropriate design and build of IT solutions, ensure all business applications are aligned as per business requirements and identify and implement IT and project management training to improve the long-term performance of Business Applications team. S/he will also contribute in the development of the IT policies, procedures, processes and guidelines.
Candidates will oversee the analysis and diagnosis of IT related issues of Business Applications team member’s, lead the development of solutions and ensure problem resolution in a prompt, courteous and professional manner. Furthermore, S/he will lead the identification of new technology needs, including new software products or enhancements to existing products, identify and engage appropriate internal resources to resolve technical issues and update clients on progress toward resolution.
Candidates will oversee the documentation for IT projects, reports on key Business Applications statistics, including change requests and enhancement trends, and make recommendations to the IT Manager, Departmental Managers and Executive Management and software support logs to track performance and identify trends and opportunities, and review recommendations for process improvements.
Candidates will lead the development of tools to collect, store, manage, secure and distribute data to employees, who need access to the latest information in order to make decisions about strategic, financial and operational issues, Coordinate with IT Security Senior Specialist to ensure that corporate data is protected against attacks from viruses, cyber criminals and other threats and oversee training provided on new software or network facilities, to ensure that training is provided in a timely and efficient manner.
The Section Head – Business Applications will be required to provide professional development support and perform periodic performance reviews for direct subordinates to contribute to the development of employees and must have excellent organizational, leadership, decision-making, delegation and communications skills as well as the ability to act as a mentor to team members.
Qualifications
Education and Certifications:
A Bachelors degree in IT or related field is required. A Masters degree is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in IT or related field and 1 year of managerial experience is required.
Language:
Fluency in written and spoken English language, Arabic is preferred.
Other Required Skills:
Strong leadership and technical skills with the ability to apply IT technical knowledge and provide sound comprehensive advice is required.
A desire to achieve organizational success and to lead by example is required.
A proactive can-do attitude to work and good time management is essential.
Good attention to detail is essential and the ability to anticipate change is required.
Resource management, quality and risk management and decision making is essential.
Knowledge of principles of Information Technology, Functional Requirement Analysis, Database Management, Application Development and IT Project Management is required.
Knowledge of Education Technologies is a plus.
Commitment to positive relationship building and effective working relationships across all levels of the organisations is required.
A Commitment to ongoing IT training and continuous professional development is desirable.
Candidates should demonstrate explanatory communication and interpersonal skills and fluency in English language is required and Arabic is an asset.
