The School of General Education invites applications for positions in Communications.

Your commitment
Joining the dedicated academic staff in the School of General Education, the Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer will plan, develop, and deliver instruction in Communications to students enrolled in a variety of academic programs. Reporting to the Department Chair, Communications and Electives, s/he will evaluate student progress and manage the resources of the learning environment. The post holder will engage in research, manage and control projects within the specified program area, liaise with industry and other educational institutions, and participate in industry advisory committees. Candidates must demonstrate exemplary communication and interpersonal skills and native fluency in English. Associate Professors will keep course portfolio documents required for accreditation processes and engage in instructional development/improvement plans. All employees are expected to contribute to professional and community life within the College and beyond.
Rank Faculty members will be placed in the appropriate rank based on their education and experience for the role.

Qualifications
For Assistant Professor
A PhD or an equivalent Terminal degree in English, Writing Studies, (Technical) Communication, Rhetoric and Writing, or a related program of study from a recognized, accredited institution is preferred.
A minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience in an internationally recognized post-secondary institution, adult training, or industry training.
Contribution to the advancement of knowledge through research, scholarship, publication, knowledge transfer or professional practice which would be expected to be international in its scope;
Contributions to the advancement of learning, teaching and curriculum development;
Professional recognition and standing amongst peers.
For Senior Lecturer (Senior Technical Instructor)
A minimum of Master’s Degree in English, Communications, Writing, Creative Writing, or a related program of study, from a recognized, accredited institution is preferred.
A minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience in an internationally recognized post-secondary, adult training, or industry training.
Contribution to the advancement of knowledge through research, scholarship, publication, knowledge transfer or professional practice which would be expected to be international in its scope;
Contributions to the advancement of learning, teaching and curriculum development;
Professional recognition and standing amongst peers.

Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge and understanding of a variety of delivery and student success strategies is required. Candidates must also have knowledge of current teaching and learning methodologies and an ability to meet the needs of a diverse student population. Strong computer skills and knowledge of the appropriate use and integration of technology in the teaching and learning process are also required. Candidates must demonstrate exemplary communication and interpersonal skills and native fluency in English. Effective problem solving skills, an ability to work in a team and learner centered environment, and the ability to develop effective working relationships across all levels of the organization are also required. Intercultural competence including intercultural sensitivity and adaptability, and the ability to conduct oneself appropriately and effectively in another culture, are essential. Knowledge of the CNA-Q system Desire2Learn (D2L) and its programs is a definite asset.
