About the Role
We are looking for a well experienced and outstanding candidate to join our team as Director of English commencing in Sept 2023.
Applicants should be with exceptional subject knowledge and experience of not less than 6 years in Education Field.
The role demands to be responsible for the English Department of the school and any other areas detailed by the Head of Secondary.
Also to follow and support school aims, policies and practices of learning ,behavior, appraisal & assessment policies and embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.
Major aspects of the profile includes the below:
Ensure that the curriculum is monitored in terms of learning outcomes so that learners make good progress in line with expectations.
Be responsible for student discipline and pastoral care, liaise with Administration, form tutors, parents and subject teachers as necessary.
Assist with Parent-Teacher meetings, Charity drives, GEMS initiatives, and other major school events.
Ensure the curriculum reflects the needs of the pupils and the standards and content required by ADEC.
Work with teachers to ensure continuity & progression in terms of the school curriculum. Chair meetings & committees as required.
Ensure the ADEC and GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical work day, where the tasks require additional commitment.
Ensure effective teamwork with teaching staff in the section.
Ensure the other supervisory staff develops skills in academic work and supervision.
Ensure the high quality of learning & teaching across the school in English Language department as judged by GEMS Educational standards.
Identify and or provide appropriate training, through coaching and mentoring, for individuals to meet their professional development goals.
Ensure team meetings are learning focused and facilitate sharing best practice.
Be an active participant in your own continuous professional learning.
Perform other duties as requested by direct & dotted reporting line managers / supervisors.
